Sanusi, who said a special prayer for peace at Jonathan’s residence was one of the northern traditional rulers, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III to join the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for the breaking of Ramadan fast. Speaking at the occasion, Abubakar condemned the twin blasts recorded in Kaduna yesterday as well as other acts of violence across the country. The Sultan described perpetrators as enemies of humanity, saying they and their sponsors had no Islamic agenda. He requested that the President should grant the traditional rulers an audience in the nearest future in order to discuss issues of national importance. The President granted the request immediately. South African police are investigating two Nigerians and an Israeli citizen who tried to bring $9.3 million in cash into the country illegally, a spokesman said on Monday. There were suspicions that the money could be meant for arms. The Nigerians, coming from Abuja, were not identified, according to a report by Reuters. The plane, a Bombardier Challenger 600, had a Nigerian flight crew on board. It was piloted by Captain Tunde Ojongbede, according to City Press.

A Nigerian baby, Amara Chiedozie, has surprised doctors and nurses in the UK after she started feeding herself with her bottle after 72 hours of her birth.

20-year-old single mother, Onyi Chiedozie, who said she is amazed at how her daughter is capable of holding the feeding bottle on her own said she ‘grabbed’ her bottle during a feed and held it to her mouth. Amara at three days old actually started feeding herself, now at three weeks old she regularly holds her bottle all by herself and pushes it aside when she is full up. Meanwhile, the new mother, Onyi, who said she is using a combination of breast and bottle feeding, said everyone is amazed by the feat. See photos below:   Nigerian Baby, Amara Chiedozie, who learned to feed herself when she was only 72 hours old The 20-year-old mother said: “ She was crying as she was hungry and when we were feeding, she started shaking, then she just grabbed the bottle and she was holding it by herself. We couldn’t believe it because babies don’t normally do it that young, I’m so shocked that I have been documenting it every day.”

Following the declaration made on Sunday, 24 August, 2014, by the leader of the Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau that it has formed an Islamic caliphate in Gwoza town, Borno State, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has rejected the claim.

According to  a strong-worded statement signed by MURIC leader, Professor Isiaq Akintola, and made public on Monday, 25 August 2014, t he group said it is un-Islamic for the terror group to have made such declaration. A town in the north east of Nigeria is under an 'Islamic caliphate', according to Boko Haram's leader which the Nigerian military denies  Boko Haram's leader said a town in the north east of Nigeria seized by the insurgents earlier this month has been placed under an Islamic caliphate, in a video obtained by AFP on Sunday. "Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in (the town of) Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic caliphate," Abubakar Shekau said in the 52-minute video.
